Following the acquisition of Bourne House Stables, famously described in the Racing Post as a carbuncle on the face of Lambourn, a huge amount of work obtaining the subsequent planning permission ensued. Despite support from most of the village our planning application had to surmount a number of hurdles before finally being granted on 14th May 2007.

On November 6th Lord Oaksey then performed the ceremonial task of turning the first sod with a silver spade presented by Rob Speirs contract manager for builder Leadbitter.

Once construction began it was still not all plain sailing. The archeological survey uncovered a number of ancient artifacts which although to form part of a future display once construction is complete, it did hold up proceedings. In addition Japanese knottweed was subsequently discovered requiring seemingly endless clearance under strict vehicle disinfecting procedures. However construction is progressing well and on schedule for completion around the end of 2008. Further pictures will be posted as construction progresses.
