The Injured Jockeys Fund is delighted to announce the opening of its brand new and purpose built Rehabilitation Centre in Newmarket, the historic home of racing.  

To fully-skill this new centre, we seek a professional team to work for this respected charity.  The vacancies outlined below cover a variety of disciplines, all equally important.  

The following positions are all advertised on a full-time permanent basis, working on a variable roster to ensure Centre accessibility from 0800 until 2000 hours, Monday to Friday.  There may be occasional weekend working. 

Role 1 IJF MSK PHYSIOTHERAPIST  (Band 7)

The Injured Jockeys Fund rehabilitation centre at Peter O’Sullevan House, Newmarket, is seeking a highly motivated MSK Physiotherapist to join our new team.  This is an extremely exciting opportunity to work with elite sports injury, complex trauma rehabilitation and long term charity beneficiary support. 

Previous lead role experience and a comprehensive understanding of sports and orthopaedic injury is essential.  A strong team ethos and professional bearing, ideally with NHS experience, is preferred.  Applicants must be CSP/HCPC registered.

This full-time minimum NHS Band 7 equivalent lead physiotherapist role commences July 2019 on a permanent contract.  Salary £38,000 to £43,000 per annum, depending on experience (minimum 5 years).

Role 2 IJF MSK PHYSIOTHERAPIST  (Band 6)

The Injured Jockeys Fund rehabilitation centre at Peter O’Sullevan House, Newmarket, is seeking a highly motivated MSK Physiotherapist to join our small dynamic team.  This is an extremely exciting opportunity to work in areas specialising in elite sports injury, complex trauma rehabilitation and long term charity beneficiary support.  

A comprehensive understanding of sports and orthopaedic injury is required, combined with a strong team-working ethos and professional grounding.  A background of NHS experience would be considered a benefit.  Applicants must be CSP/HCPC registered.

This full-time minimum NHS Band 6 equivalent physiotherapist role commences July 2019 on a permanent contract.  Salary £28,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience (minimum 5 years).

Role 3   IJF STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH

This is an exciting opportunity for a full time Strength and Conditioning Coach to join the Injured Jockeys Fund at their latest rehabilitation centre, Peter O’Sullevan House, in Newmarket.

As part of a small, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team you will be working with jockeys and other elite sports men and women delivering, amongst other things: comprehensive periodised rehabilitation and conditioning programmes to groups and individuals; completing screening/profiling and fitness testing and functional assessments to complement recovery and well-being.  There will also be a need to deliver class-based fitness sessions. 

Accreditation to UKSCA would be required for this role, with a minimum of three years’ post-graduate experience.  Salary £25,000 to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Role 4   IJF REHABILITATION THERAPIST

This is an exciting opportunity for a full time Rehabilitation Therapist to join the Injured Jockeys Fund at their latest rehabilitation centre at Peter O’Sullevan House in Newmarket.

As part of a small, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team you will be working with jockeys and other elite sports men and women delivering, amongst other things, comprehensive periodised rehabilitation and conditioning programmes to groups and individuals, completing screening/profiling and fitness testing and functional assessments, to provide therapeutic interventions to complement recovery and well-being.

Accreditation to either BASRaT or UKSCA would be required for this role, with a minimum of three years post-graduate experience.  Salary £25,000 to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Role 5  IJF PETER O’SULLEVAN CENTRE MANAGER

A Centre Manager is sought to manage the Injured Jockeys Fund’s newly constructed Rehabilitation and Fitness Centre, Peter O’Sullevan House in Newmarket.

We are looking for a person with strong all-round management experience, who will become the face of this new facility and represent the IJF in the local/national racing community.

Applicants must have:  
Management experience of working in a multi-faceted environment
Experience of general housing /maintenance issues including a full understanding of Health & Safety and Risk Management.
Good IT skills to manage our computerised booking system, plus sound financial housekeeping abilities
A strong team-working ethic and leadership experience
An interest in and understanding of racing is essential 
Remuneration is commensurate with knowledge/experience but will be circa £37,500.   A clean driving licence is required.

Role 6 IJF ADMINISTRATOR / RECEPTIONIST

The IJF is seeking an experienced administrator/receptionist to support our new IJF Centre Manager at Peter O’Sullevan House, Newmarket. 
Duties will include deputising for the Centre Manager in their absence, working in partnership with the Centre Manager to support the day-to-day running of the office, carrying out routine H&S tests such as pool and fire alarm testing, as well as other duties associated with routine administration, invoicing and other office functions.  A professional and personable disposition is essential, as you will be the first point of contact for all IJF visitors. 

A minimum of three years’ experience is required as well as a familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and an ability to learn other in-house databases and systems.   

Remuneration is commensurate with knowledge/experience but will be circa £19,000 to £21,000.
